While exploring big cities in Europe is always exciting, we can’t deny that small towns across the continent have a certain charm that makes them irresistible. Here are some of our favorite ones.

Sintra, Portugal

Sintra seriously looks like a fantasy kingdom, and it’s located just outside Lisbon, so you can easily visit it from Portugal’s capital. There is an awesome Gothic national palace, and plenty of cobblestone streets you can walk on.

Bruges, Belgium

They call Bruges the “Venice of the North,” because of its many canals, which make it look like a fairytale. The place is packed with incredible medieval architecture and will make you feel like you went back through time.

Cefalù, Italy

What’s not to like about this picturesque town? There’s a 12th-century cathedral right above the main square, where you can find cafes and shops with a perfect offer for tourists. When you get bored, go exploring the stone streets in the old neighborhood.
