If the idea of lying in a thermal spring floats your boat, why not head West for some of the best hot spring experiences.

San Juan Mountains, Colorado

Southwestern Colorado is well known for its skiing, but did you know about its hot springs, which are perfect for apres ski? Clothes are optional at the so-called “lobster pot” at Orvis Hot Springs, where the water can reach a warming 114 degrees.

Trimble Hot Springs is reputed to have therapeutic effects as a result of the minerals dissolved in the water.

Jackson, Wyoming

Northwestern Wyoming has loads of hot spots, including the famous Yellowstone Grand Prismatic Spring.

Although some of the springs are no longer accessible to would-be bathers, Granite Falls Hot Springs south of Jackson Hole still wows guests with its pool above the river, surrounded by enormous conifers.

Hot Springs Cove, Vancouver Island, B.C., Canada

Although you can only get there by ship or plane, Hot Springs Cove is an inviting place to soak in one of the hot tide pools. You can charter a seaplane from Tofino for a 15-minute flight, and walk the mile to the Cove. You might be lucky enough to spot a whale.
