Chile’s vibrant capital of Santiago is one of my favorite places to visit in Latin America. Scenically located between the Andes Mountains and the Chilean Coastal Range and buzzing with over 6 million residents, you will never get bored here. Santiago is full of surprises that you might not expect to find there. Check out these three must-visit attractions that show off the best of what the city has to offer.

Sky Costanera

Santiago hosts the tallest skyscraper in South America, Sky Costanera. Reaching nearly 1000 feet above the ground, you can go up to the top of this impressive building and visit a 360-degree observation deck with stunning views of the city and its surrounding countryside.

Parquemet

Another surprising thing that you’ll find in Santiago is one of the world’s largest urban parks, Parquemet. At nearly 2,000 acres, you will find forested walking trails, statues, the Chilean National Zoo, and botanical gardens in which to get lost.

Plaza de Armas

Town squares are commonly found in Latin American cities, and Santiago’s main one is the Plaza de Armas. Built in the 16th century and located at the epicenter of the city’s center, you will find statues, the city’s main cathedral, and eating and drinking spots here.
