As the summer gradually draws to an end, the thought of vacations and travel may start to seem less appealing. However, for those not bound by academic term times or other commitments, fall can be the best time of year for a trip. It’s often less crowded, has a more favorable temperature, and can be much cheaper. Here are some destinations in Europe which would make for an ideal fall trip away.
Seville, Spain
This stunning city is incredibly popular with tourists with huge amounts of people flocking there every summer. Heading to the gorgeous city in fall instead will avoid those intense crowds, as well as the stifling heat. You can enjoy wandering through the picturesque streets with the gentle fall weather and enjoy some delicious Spanish cuisine.
Plitvice Lakes, Croatia
One of the most stunning natural sites, this area transforms in the fall. Where the lakes are usually surrounded by an explosion of luscious greenery, during the fall this becomes a breathtaking mixture of greens, golds, oranges, browns, and more, resulting in the most magical atmosphere imaginable.
Crete, Greece
If you’re still craving a beach paradise vacation, then heading to Crete in the fall is perfect. You’ll miss the chaotic crowds but still enjoy the warm weather and perfect sea temperatures. The slightly cooler temperature also means that hiking the stunning mountains is much more feasible than in summer.
