Finding a cheap cruise deal can seem like a big win. But most people don’t realize that they will usually have to pay significantly more than just the base price of the cruise. This is thanks to hidden costs of cruising that most cruise lines forget to mention in their original offer. Check out some of them below.

Port Charges and Taxes

Most cruise lines don’t include port charges and taxes in the advertised price. You will see them usually added to the price during checkout or charged separately. They can increase the base price up to 20 percent.

Shore Excursions

Shore excursions are not included in the price of your trip unless it is stated so. They come at anywhere from $30 to a few hundred dollars. But the good thing is that you don’t have to take them if you don’t want to pay extra.

Food and Drinks

You will get free meals and drinks during your cruise trip. However, not all the restaurants are covered by your ticket, and there is a limited selection of drinks you can expect to get for free. Everything else is charged extra.

Additional Services

Some additional services also cost money. For example, you will have to pay if you want your photo taken by the resident photographer. Also, the room service is charged extra, and in some cases, you might be charged a cleaning fee.
