How to Have Fun While Camping During the Winter

It seems like everyone was crazy about camping this summer. Since we had limited opportunities for traveling, many used their vacation days to spend some time in nature—and camping was the number one choice for such adventures. When it comes to winter camping, there are ways to make it fun and avoid all the downsides, if you prepare on time.

Stay Warm

It’s crucial to stay warm at all times. Make sure you’re not camping near steep slopes, where snow can slide towards you. Good winter equipment like warm sleeping bags is essential, but not enough when it’s really cold, so check the weather forecast before planning a trip.

Campfire

Setting up a campfire shouldn’t be more difficult than during summer, but you can also use a liquid fuel stove for cooking. It’s important to provide some warm food and camping stews can be perfect for this, just make sure you properly put out the fire when you’re done.

Packing

There are several essentials you must pack regardless of the weather—such as a tent, fire starter, safety equipment, etc. Don’t forget to pack some extra warm clothes, a thermos to keep your hot liquids hot, sun protection for your skin, and plenty of food high in calories that will keep you full.
