How To Sleep On A Plane

Paddleboarding is seriously fun and, when you get good at it, can be a relaxing way to enjoy the water. Many lakes and rivers have paddleboard hire stations, so all you need to bring is a swimming kit and a can-do attitude!

Pack Properly

Make sure you have access to water, ear plugs, a sleeping mask, and a neck pillow in your hand luggage. Staying hydrated will help you relax and feel comfortable, and the sleep mask and ear plugs will block any lights or sounds that might keep you awake. The neck pillow is essential to avoid any aches and pains after touchdown.

Bring a Book

Take a relaxing read, or a soothing audiobook, that will help you drift off. Now is not the time to get stuck into that latest thriller. Some simple poetry might work, or even a text that is a little dry (but don’t take anything related to your work, as that is not a recipe for rest and relaxation). Read for about ten minutes, then put your earplugs in and sleeping mask on. Hopefully, you’ll find yourself nodding off in no time.

Pick Your Seating

Everyone has their own seat preferences, but if you’re really intent on getting some sleep, opt for a window seat. Nothing is more annoying than being on the point of sleep, only to have to get up to let someone go to the toilet. Sat in the window, you can rest easy knowing that nobody is going to tap you on the shoulder or jolt you awake with the snack cart.

Going to sleep on the plane feels like you’re stealing back some time for yourself, so if you want to recuperate before you’ve even checked into the hotel, remember these essentials next time you’re due to board.
