At first glance, Huacachina looks like a place somewhere in the deep Sahara but believe it or not, this oasis has nothing to do with Africa! The lovely Huacachina is a small oasis in the Ica Desert near the city of Ica in Peru. Located around 350 kilometers south of the capital of Peru, this stunning place offers experiences you will certainly enjoy.

The small settlement has a population of around 100 people and was built around a tiny natural lake in the Ica desert. It’s believed that the water has healing powers and because of that, the oasis became a really popular destination for the Peruvian jet-set back in the 1960s. Now, this wonderful place has tens of thousands of visitors every year from all around the world!

Huacachina offers great outdoor activities that you can engage in to have some unique fun. You can go sandboarding in the desert or you can take a cruise with a dune buggy. If you are really adventurous, you can go camping in the desert for several nights.
