When planning a trip somewhere there are so many things to think about. Deciding on destination, accommodation, and transport is just the start. Once these things have been chosen the joy of packing might be next on the list. Working out what to bring with you is one thing, but deciding on the bag type to bring with you is also an important choice. Common options are a suitcase or a backpack, so here are some pros and cons of each to help you decide.
Suitcases Can be Wheeled Along
There’s nothing worse than getting off a long flight only to have to swing your backpack on to lug around. When you have a lot to carry, having it all resting on your shoulders is not fun. Being able to pull this weight along on wheels instead can be ideal.
Backpacks Are More Concise
As nice as it is to not have to carry the weight of your luggage, suitcases can be challenging in crowded places, on uneven ground, or when there are lots of steps. Having your luggage on your back means you don’t have to think about it wherever you go.
Suitcases Are More Practical for Accessing the Contents
It’s great to be able to unzip a suitcase and pull it open to access the inside. Backpacks can be much more awkward to rummage through.
Backpacks Can be Squashed Down
Whether you’re on a flight with overhead storage or on a busy coach, suitcases can be a nightmare to fit into small gaps as they are sturdy and rigid. Backpacks can be stuffed into gaps much more easily.
