Japan’s First Micro Pig Cafe Is Too Cute For Words

Japan may have given rise to the cat cafe but Tokyo’s very first micro pig cafe is something else.

The cafe was created back in March following a successful crowdfunding campaign. The campaign was created to help change people’s perception of pigs and see them not just as livestock but as intelligent beings.

The pigs are bred on a farm in Yamanashi Prefecture. They grow up to a maximum of 40 kg, which is a fraction of the size of a regular 300 kg pig. Inside the cafe, you will see more than a dozen pigs running around and playing. Unlike in cat cafes, they do not sit up on a perch looking down on guests. They are lively, friendly, and extremely adorable.

MiPig cafe is located in Meguro City, Tokyo. Due to the cafe’s popularity, visitors need to book in advance. We suggest you do so as slots get snapped up fast. All information is available on the website which can be found via @mipig’s official Instagram account.
