Let’s be honest: modern dating sucks. Swiping culture has overtaken actual introductions, scamming is a real concern, and ghosting is as common as courtesy is not. It’s a hard time to be single and looking for love.

But for those who are over what 2022 is dishing out in the dating department, and still hoping to find someone IRL, you’re in luck!

Ireland is hosting the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival during September, where singles can mingle and hopefully find their match.

The festival began in 1857, when the upper-class would venture to the spa town of Lisdoonvarna to soak in the healing waters while chit-chatting about suitable matches for their children. How very Bridgerton-esque.

Social gatherings, sporting events, and musical evenings were held in a bid to encourage courtship, and the idea has continued to modern times.

Although COVID-19 put the activities on hold for two years, the festival is back and once again the scene for dancing, drinking, and mingling! The vibe is created by international DJs and Ireland’s top musicians who perform for the 40,000 people that flock to the small village.

Another massive draw is the famous matchmaker, Willie Daly, who has brought about 3,000 marriages during his 50 years in the biz. Daly relies on his “lucky book” filled with profiles, with the rumor being that those who touch it will find love within six months.

The Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival runs from September 2nd to 30th
