Movies and television shows can often be so immersive that we feel like we’re a part of the experience. In many ways, this is the point of movies, to draw us in and allow us to explore and “travel” the world from within the very confines of our own couch. But here’s the thing—it doesn’t have to stop once the movie ends. If you’ve ever caught a travel bug and couldn’t figure out why, it could be that you caught it from an adventurous TV series or movie that you watched.
When a movie or TV show inspires someone to travel to a certain place, there may be a tiny urge to feel embarrassed about it. One might feel as though they’re not a “real traveler,” rather one who simply wants to live out the fantasy of their movie. But if you’ve ever had this thought, it couldn’t be further from the truth.
Yes, you might have gotten inspired to travel from something that wasn’t real. But first of all, there’s nothing wrong with that. And second of all, the experiences that’ll ensue once you do reach your destination will be more real than you can ever imagine.
