If you’re a foodie who isn’t afraid to try something new, you have to seek out these bizarre street foods.

Balut

The Philippines is an awesome country with a really unique cuisine, although one delicacy is slightly more than just unique. Balut is an egg that might look normal on the outside, but you’ll have an unusual surprise when you crack into it. Instead of it being a liquid or even hard-boiled, you will find a fertilized duck embryo, which means it’s almost a baby duck. Though it might sound intense, everyone in the Philippines and around Southeast Asia loves it and say it tastes very similar to chicken.

Mopane Worms

There’s no doubt that if you ever go to Zimbabwe, you will definitely see people on the street eating some critter-like snack. This popular street food is called the Mopane worm, which is a worm that is harvested, deep-fried, and enjoyed at all times of the day. Since it is deep-fried, the crunch is really nice and doesn’t feel like you’re really eating a bug.

Scorpion

In some places in China like Beijing, don’t be surprised to find scorpions on a stick being offered on the street. The flavor is something like nuts or even bug-like, but you can’t deny that it’s a unique experience to be able to eat one and not be afraid of it stinging you.
