Penguin Lovers Have to Visit Phillip Island at Least Once

Australia probably isn’t the first place you think of when someone mentions penguins, but you’ll change your mind after learning more about Phillip Island. It welcomes millions of visitors every year, and the Penguin Parade is its biggest draw.

Located only 90 minutes from Melbourne, this beautiful island is a huge hit with animal lovers. Whale watching activities are popular with visitors, while wallabies and kangaroos can be found roaming freely around the island.

Most visitors, however, go to Phillip Island to observe the adorable Penguin Parade at Phillip Island Nature Park. Little penguins come ashore in groups, usually at dusk, and it’s truly a sight for sore eyes to watch them wobbling around.

This is currently the only commercial venue in the world where you can see penguins in their natural environment, and there are several ticket options available. Self-guided tours start at around $30, but you’ll have to cash out even more if you want to see the penguins up-close or join one of the guided ranger tours.
