Within the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean Sea, you can find the magical island of Aruba. Measuring only 20 x 6 miles, the country has a rich history that includes originally being inhabited by the Arawak people, falling into Spanish hands, and eventually becoming part of The Netherlands. Here is what to explore in the multi-cultural destination.

Eagle Beach

Eagle Beach has been rated as one of the best beaches in the world, and it’s not hard to understand why. The soft white sand makes it the perfect place to relax with a cocktail in hand while watching the waves. You can also go scuba diving in the turquoise water where you will encounter coral reefs and possibly even a shipwreck.

Oranjestad

As a member of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Dutch is a widely spoken language in Aruba. The country’s capital, Oranjestad, translates to Orange City, and is a fascinating blend of Dutch colonial architecture and lively Caribbean vibes. Go for a stroll along the waterfront promenade, take a photo beside the “I Love Aruba” sign, and indulge in some duty-free shopping.

Bon Bini Festival

“Bon Bini” is the Aruban phrase for “welcome”, and the weekly Bon Bini Festival is the best way to embrace the island’s culture. Expect music, dancing, and traditional dishes like Keshi Yena and Pastechi.
