Bucharest has one of the world’s prettiest bookshops in the world. Carturesti Carusel opened its doors in 2015. It was originally a building from the 19th century. It contains more than 10,000 titles, 5,000 albums and DVD’s.
Largest Rock Sculpture
Europe’s largest rock sculpture can be found in Romania as well. Near the small city of Orsova lies a 55-meter-high rock sculpture representing Decebalus, the Last king of Dacia.
Colorful Cemetery
Romania is the home to one of the most colorful cemeteries in the world. Merry Cemetery, situated in a small village of Maramures is one of the happiest places of its kind. Designed by Stan Ioan Patras in 1940 is an open-air museum and a very popular tourist attraction as well. Each tombstone features a witty poem about the person’s life or the way he or she died.
