Kayla Nielsen is an Instagram-famous yoga teacher whose non-profit Go Light Our World (GLOW) hosts retreats and events around the world in an effort to raise funds for charitable projects that fight poverty. After spending years on the road and struggling with some health issues of her own, Kalya decided to open Still Salty Escape, an eco-friendly resort and retreat space 20 meters from the beach near the city of El Viejo on Nicaragua’s northwest coast.
She and her partner Alix designed the space with community in mind. It sleeps up to 16 people and includes three shared and one private cabañas, which are all named after local fruits and feature views of the property’s garden as well as the ocean.
Still Salty grows much of its own organic produce and has yoga and meditation spaces as well as a massage area.
The resort hosts several of its own yoga and wellness retreats throughout the year, but can also be rented for private retreats and events such as weddings. It’s the perfect spot for yogis, surfers, or anyone in search of, well, an escape. Located 3.5 hours from the nearest airport, we can’t think of a better place to get away from it all.
