Safaris Are Incredible, But Are They Safe?

Have you ever gone on a Safari adventure? If you’re someone who loves animals, chances are you’d find it exhilarating and truly incredible. All Safaris are different, but most of them involve riding a Jeep through wild terrain, where there are real live animals roaming around in their natural habitat. Usually, these environments are controlled and safe, but considering we’re talking about real animals on their home turf, is this actually true?

Yes—But You Need To Be Smart

For the most part, Safaris that are put together by well-established organizations are usually pretty safe. However, that doesn’t mean that you can just do whatever you like and assume nothing will happen to you. Just like everything in life, Safaris require you to exhibit caution and no shortage of common sense.

For instance, some Safaris allow you to drive through the terrain in your own car. Some even allow you to feed the animals. But feeding the animals can still be dangerous if you don’t treat the animals with respect. If you leave your windows open and allow ostriches to meander over to your car, you may find that their necks can reach a lot further than you think. Not only that, but if you don’t offer them food, we wouldn’t recommend giving them the option to peck on you instead.

In other words, Safaris can be super exciting and even relatively safe—but you need to be extremely cautious. Don’t do anything silly, don’t be naïve, and you should be fine.
