Should You Join Someone Else On Their Travels?

When you travel the world, it’s pretty common that you’ll meet friends along the way. This is especially the case if you’re traveling solo, and you have a “backpacker’s mindset”. It’s a very go with the flow sort of mentality, and it’s an attitude shift that’s become pretty prominent over the last decade. For some people, this means becoming so close with people on their travels that they’ll actually join them (or you might say follow them) wherever they go. Is this something you should do? Here’s what to consider.

Stranger Danger Still Exists

While we’re all for being spontaneous and opening ourselves up to new experiences, safety is still a thing. Don’t throw all your cards out the window on a whim. Truly ask yourself if the person you’re with is trustworthy, and whether or not you need to be following them on their travels.

What’s in it For Them?

It’s not always easy to know if someone is trustworthy, so start by asking yourself what’s in it for them? Are they getting something from your relationship that you’re not getting back in return? If so, you might want to seriously rethink this.

Consult With a Loved One

It’s easy to lose contact with your loved ones while you’re on the road, but this is the moment to consult with them. If something seems fishy or off, you can bet your life that your loved ones will be honest with you. At the end of the day, your safety is the number one priority.
