Should You Take a Guitar On Your Trip?

If there was an instrument that could be considered practical to take on a major trip, it would be a guitar. The practicality of it a guitar is through the rooftop, from how easy it is to carry to how beautiful it still sounds no matter where you take it. This makes a guitar an excellent option for something to take on your travels. However, there are problems to consider. So should you take it on your trip?

It Depends On The Guitar

The first thing you need to consider is the actual guitar you’re taking with you. Are you taking a guitar that’s worth over a thousand dollars? If so, that might be too expensive of a guitar to take on your trip. Anything could happen to it while you’re on the road.

However, if the guitar is a cheap one that you can afford to lose (not that you’d want to), then taking it might be the way to go!

It Depends Where You’re Going (And How Long)

The other thing to consider is where you’re going, and how long you’re going to be there for. Are you heading to a civilized country with low crime rates? Are you going to be staying in a hotel, where your stuff will be relatively protected? If so, you should go ahead and take the guitar.

But if you’re going to a third world country with lots of crime, and intend on staying in hostels where your valuables will be constantly exposed, you’d better leave the guitar at home.
