Singapore to Track People Who Arrive in the Country With Electronic Monitors

In order to minimize the risk of coronavirus transmission by travelers who arrive in the country, Singapore is about to introduce electronic monitors that will check if the passengers are following the stay-at-home orders.

Whether they are foreign travelers or returning residents, all people who land in Singapore will be required to wear electronic monitoring devices from August 11th. These devices will monitor if people are following the required quarantining procedures. Each of them is required to stay at home for 14 days after entering the country and these devices will make sure everyone follows that.

Incoming travelers can either stay at their place of residence or at one of the dedicated facilities for the mandatory period of 14 days. Those who stay at their place of residence will be required to wear an electronic monitoring device after they go through immigration clearance. They are required to activate it as soon as they get home and the device will activate an alarm in case they try to leave home. The new rules will apply to anyone older than 12 years of age.

One situation in which the device wearer can leave home is to go get tested for COVID-19.
