This protected area is home to kangaroos, platypus, koalas, and other native species that you can observe in their natural habitat while exploring Tidbinbilla’s many walking trails.
You won’t run into any live animals at this museum, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting, especially for younger visitors. Its Australia’s largest permanent display of prehistoric specimens, with an impressive collection of fossils, but most visitors come here to explore its garden with life-like dinosaur models.

]]>While it might seem surprising, Zoo Knoxville in the small southern city of Knoxville, Tennessee is arguably the best place in the world to see red pandas. This zoo, which has a highly successful red panda breeding program, currently also features four cute cubs on display.
This Washington, DC zoo, which features free admission, is also a great place in the United States to see the red panda. A female named Asa lives in the Asia Trail habitat and can often be seen playing and eating bamboo shoots.
In fall 2019, the Prospect Park Zoo was fortunate enough to see their red panda, Willow, give birth to a couple of male red pandas which are now a favorite at this Brooklyn establishment. These three are playful and energetic, unless it’s cold outside, seeing them revert to semi-hibernation!

A few miles off of the South African mainland and an hour or so north of Cape Town is Dassen Island, a nature reserve which can be visited by boat as part of a private trip. If you’re lucky enough to go, you’ll be able to observe a breeding colony of African penguins in their natural habitat.

It costs $10 per person per hour to gain access to the cafe, where you will be given a complimentary drink upon entrance.
If you’re lucky, you might even have a chance to cuddle with one of the cafe’s furry friends or to feed one of them a treat of its own!
