]]>Located off of the northwest coast of Africa, Madeira is a spot that enjoys good weather all year round and has a ton to see and do outside of the typical beach visits, although there is plenty of opportunity to do that too.
Hiking is one of the best things to do in Madeira, with trails such as the Ponta de São Lourenço offering incredible Atlantic Ocean vistas and interior trails like the ones in the central mountain chain of the island going up to 6,000 feet above sea level!
After exploring the island’s nature, one perfect is heading to the capital city of Funchal and grabbing dinner in one of the cozy outdoor terraces that serve up fresh seafood and tropical drinks.
Don’t spend too much time just sitting around, however, as you can find all kinds of spectacular things like volcanic swimming pools in Porto Moniz, Europe’s highest sea cliff (Cabo Girao, at a dizzying 580 meters above the ocean), and spectacular viewpoints to see the ocean all around the island.

]]>One of the most unique experiences that visitors to Sao Miguel can have while visiting this stunningly beautiful island is a trip to Ponta da Ferraria, a spot located on the rugged west coast of the island.
The reason why this location is so unique is that it contains pools made from volcanic rock that contain thermally-heated water, which you can access freely and without paying a dime. These pools, located right next to the wild Atlantic Ocean, are set in a stunning location and provide one of the most strangely relaxing experiences you’ll ever have.
