You probably know the English town of Bath for its 2,000-year-old Baths after which it is named. Nestled in the Avon Valley between the Cotswolds and the Mendip Hills in the county, Bath is widely considered one of the prettiest small cities in Britain. Here are a few of the spots that make it special.

Roman Baths

Built in 75 BC, Bath’s Roman Baths and Temple are among the finest examples of Roman architecture remaining in the UK. The site attracts over a million visitors each year and was voted Britain’s most romantic building.

Royal Crescent

Bath’s perfectly preserved Georgian architecture is the second most famous feature of this beautiful city. Some of the best examples are found on Queen Square, Gay Street, and Royal Circus. Finally, there’s Royal Crescent. This semicircular sweep of residential townhouses is famous for its uniform, palace-like façade. No. 1 Royal Crescent is open to the public and provides a glimpse of what life was like for the wealthy and their servants in the 1770s.

Fashion Museum

If you would like to learn more about the garments and accessories that would have adorned the residents of the city’s exquisite Georgian homes, check out the Fashion Museum.
