]]>This luxury boutique hotel called Casa Malca, is located in Tulum, on the Caribbean coast of Mexico’s Yucatan peninsula.
After the drug lord’s death in 1993, many of his properties were abandoned, just like this one. However, the mansion was rescued from the encroaching sand dunes as it was rediscovered a decade later in 2003 and returned to its original owner. In 2012 it was bought and renovated by New York art dealer Lio Malca. Now it is a five-star hotel surrounded by crystal clear Caribbean Sea, white-sand beach and a green jungle.
The mansion has 42 suites and rooms in total with breathtaking ocean and garden views. The rooms are decorated with colorful, rustic, eco-friendly materials such as organic cotton and bamboo linens.
