Cartagena, Colombia, is widely considered one of the street food capitals of the world. The city’s streets offer some of the most amazing and unusual dishes you will ever try out. We recommend you try as many of them as you can but make sure not to miss out on the following ones.

Patacones

Patacones are double-fried plantain slices that come in all sorts of variations in Cartagena. They can be eaten with a side of cheese sauce or hogao sauce, while some vendors also top them with shredded beef and other ingredients.

Papa Rellenas

Papa rellenas are popular all across Latin America. Potato-based dough or simple mashed potato is filled with meat and veggies before being formed into a ball. It is then fried and served plain or alongside sauces.

Mango Biche

This unique street food is made by cutting unripe mango into strips and then coating them with lime juice and salt. You can also ask for a spicy version, in which case the street food vendor will top the mango stripes with some chili powder as well.

Arepas

Arepas is considered the staple of Colombian cuisine. These corn patties can be enjoyed plain, but they are way better when filled with cheese, meat, or veggies.

Just in case you’ve been wondering, these are the most colorful cities in the world. They are spread all over the world, but they all have something in common: beautiful colorful buildings that will put a smile on your face.

Chefchaouen, Morocco

Chefchaouen is famous for the blue walls of its buildings. Some say that the blue walls have origin in Jewish mysticism while others claim the blue paint was used to repel the mosquitos. Either way, it gives the city the unique look it’s known for.

Busan, South Korea

Busan is a large city in South Korea that’s often forgotten as people typically visit Seoul. However, there’s one part of the city that will instantly make you fall in love with it. It’s called the Gamcheon Cultural Village and it’s covered in colorful houses that almost look like a stack of LEGOs.

Cartagena, Colombia

Compared to Bogota and Medellin, Cartagena is a smaller city, but its beauty stems from the colorfulness of the city center and the pleasant warm tropical climate. Here is everything you need to visit in this charming city.

The Old Part

A walk through the old town is the best way to get to know Cartagena’s culture and history – and you will get to see the whole city from above!

Totumo Volcano

Totumo is a volcano with hot mud instead of lava. It’s not an everyday experience to take a bath in hot mud, but it can be very interesting since you can’t sink – you can just float on the mud. Sounds fun, right?

Torre Del Reloj

This clock tower is the border that separates the old town from the new part and is a great entrance that will take you to the historical side of Cartagena.

La Comida

One of the best things about Cartagena is the great food you can find in the Gethsemane area and the Old Town. Try La Comida!

Colombian coffee

Colombia is known for its coffee, and there are currently two trends among caffeine lovers: old companies that produce and sell coffee in the markets and new hipster movements that offer more aromatic coffee in small cups.
