When it comes to beautiful and exotic places to visit in the world, Costa Rica is one of the best places you can go to. This is saying a lot, because there are so many incredible hotspots around the world. And yet, Costa Rica continues to rise to the top of peoples’ lists, and there’s a good reason for it. If you’ve decided to join the trend and head down there as well, here are three awesome activities you can do there.

La Fortuna Waterfall

If your primary interest when visiting Costa Rica is to enjoy the relaxing enchantment of nature, you’re in good company. Most people go there to do just that and let’s just say that La Fortuna Waterfall is just the tip of the iceberg. Go there first and don’t blame us if you never want to leave.

Tamarindo Beach

If you just want to lay out on a beautiful beach, then we suggest heading to Tamarindo Beach. One of many incredible beaches in Costa Rica, it’s a tourist hotspot, and you’re sure to meet tons of interesting people while getting a suntan there.

Teatro Nacional Costa Rica

If you’re less about nature and more about history, then Teatro Nacional should be your number one destination. This local iconic Theater displays an entire century’s worth of architectural significance, as well as artwork that needs to be seen to be believed.

Smack dab in the middle of Central America between the Pacific and Caribbean oceans lies the beautiful country of Costa Rica. It’s a popular destination suitable for many types of tourists; its forests provide ample opportunity for hiking and other outdoor adventures, while its beaches create the perfect backdrop for travelers hoping to relax by the water.

In an effort to preserve the natural surroundings, many of the hotels in Costa Rica are designed to have a light footprint on the earth, but that doesn’t mean they’re not great places to stay. On the contrary—it makes some of them even more beautiful. Here are some of our favorites.

Hotel Belmar

Wake up in the morning to see nothing but trees, start your day with a yoga class, or have a smoothie at the juice bar at this stunning hotel nestled right in the forest.

Volcano Lodge and Hotel

Swim in hot springs or take a walk through the botanical gardens at Volcano Lodge, named after Costa Rica’s Arenal Volcano which can be seen from anywhere on the property.

Blue River Resort and Hot Springs

Take a mud bath, walk through the butterfly garden, and be sure not to miss the breathtakingly blue rivers that this hotel is named for. Take a tour and go swimming, kayaking, or even horseback riding along the Rio Azul.

Costa Rica is arguably the hottest travel destination in Central America, and it’s easy to see why. A well-developed infrastructure along with one of the world’s most biodiverse and strikingly beautiful landscapes makes it a fantastic place to visit. While all of these things show up in the guidebooks for Costa Rica, there is one other thing that often doesn’t get mentioned but is just as important and a reason why many fall in love with this place: “Pura Vida.”

This Spanish expression, meaning “pure life,” is a sort of national slogan for the Costa Rican people. Embodying the Costa Rican spirit and mentality, it’s a powerful phrase that tells us so much about why this country is so special.

One thing that you’ll notice when traveling around San Jose, the Costa Rican rainforests, or its beaches, is that you’ll almost never find anyone who is stressed. So, why is this? Pura Vida!

Pura vida roughly sums up a mentality that can be described as “this is living!” Costa Rica is known for being relaxed, laid-back, and optimistic, and all of these things are traits that will become readily apparent as you travel around this country.

Are you ready to give “pura vida” a try? If so, book your trip to Costa Rica soon!
