There’s so much about Europe that makes it a fantastic destination for travelers of all types—its culture, architecture, and history, to name a few examples. Unfortunately, a lot of what makes Europe feel special can also be a challenge when it comes to navigation. Cobblestone streets are charming, but they can also be uncomfortable to walk on for long distances, and historical buildings aren’t always updated with accessible features. For some, this may not be an issue, but for others, limited mobility may be an essential factor in deciding whether to visit a particular location. If this applies to you, read on to learn more about some of the most walkable cities worth visiting in Europe.

Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Amsterdam is generally considered to be the most walkable city in all of Europe. The infrastructure in most areas features well-maintained pedestrian paths, while the city’s compact neighborhoods keep shops, restaurants, and museums of all kinds easy to access. With its charming canals and over 30 parks, walking around Amsterdam is also quite visually appealing.

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague’s size makes it an ideal destination for travelers who prefer to explore on foot. While the entirety of modern Prague is relatively large, its historic center is quite compact and easy to navigate. Take a stroll across the Charles Bridge, or visit the iconic Prague Castle—both less than 20 minutes walk from the city’s Old Town, or “Staré Mesto.”

Barcelona, Spain

Barcelona is reasonably walkable compared to other European cities, but what really sets it apart is how accessible it is for those with limited mobility. The capital of the Catalonia region has top-notch public transportation, much of which has been adapted to make it accessible for wheelchair users.

Planning a trip to Europe can be exciting, but choosing which city to visit can be overwhelming. With so many beautiful cities to choose from, how do you decide where to go? Here are a handful of cities you should consider, and why you should choose them.

Decide Why You’re Traveling

It all depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re a history buff, cities like Rome, Athens, and Paris are a must-visit. These cities are steeped in history and offer numerous museums, landmarks, and historical sites to explore. If you’re a foodie, cities like Barcelona, Naples, and Lisbon offer some of the best cuisines in Europe. And if you’re looking for stunning scenery and outdoor activities, cities like Salzburg, Interlaken, and Reykjavik offer breathtaking natural beauty and outdoor adventures.

Other Aspects To Consider

It’s also important to consider practical factors, such as budget and travel time. Some cities, like Paris and London, can be expensive, while others, like Budapest and Krakow, offer great value for your money. Additionally, some cities may require longer travel times or multiple flights to reach, while others may be just a short train ride away. Ultimately, the key to choosing the right city to travel to in Europe is to consider your interests and priorities.

One of the most popular countries in the world to visit is Italy, and for good reason. A cultural hotbed of history, religion, and especially food, it’s not the kind of place you want to miss. However, when most people visit Italy, they automatically travel to Rome, Venice, or even Milan as their go-to spot. These cities are all great in their own way, but we’re here to recommend that you check out another incredible city: the beautiful Florence.

Plenty of Attractions

The first thing you should know is that Florence has a lot more attractions than people realize. The capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, Florence hosts an impressive panel of Renaissance artwork, from architecture to paintings to sculptures.

Speaking of architecture, perhaps Florence’s most iconic attraction is none other than the Duomo, which is a cathedral that was built and engineered by Italian architect Filippo Brunelleschi. Another important work of art to visit in Florence is in fact Michelangelo’s “David” sculpture, which can actually be observed in the Galleria dell’Accademia.

Relaxing Vibes

But beyond all of the grand attractions, there’s another reason that Florence is special: it’s quaint. When you walk through Rome, you get the feeling that everything is larger than life. Florence, however, has much more quiet energy—and therein lies its magic. You can walk through a great deal of the city in one night, and as you do so, you’ll feel a relaxing energy course through you that’s hard not to fall in love with.

Europe is full of incredible destinations for travelers of all kinds. No matter what you’re looking for, you can find it in Europe: culture and history, beaches, vibrant cities, and amazing nature. With a great number of places to visit, some of them get unrightfully neglected. The Ukrainian city of Lviv is one of them.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBknfaYnvPo/?utm_source=ig_embed

Lviv is one of the trending European destinations right now. It’s still not overflowing with tourists so plan your trip there before it gets too popular. Lviv is located in western Ukraine, near the Polish border. It’s home to more than 700,000 residents and different from other cities in Ukraine.

The main difference from the other Ukrainian places is its architecture. Lviv doesn’t feature the typical Soviet-style but looks more like a Central European city. It was one of the main European trade centers in medieval times and used to belong to different countries over time. Lviv is today considered a center of artistic, spiritual, and scientific life.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CCMeTJOFwoJ/?utm_source=ig_embed

There are around 2,000 landmarks to see in the UNESCO-protected city center, so you can easily plan a whole day or a few days of walking around and discovering everything Lviv has to offer.

There are around 2,000 landmarks to see in the UNESCO-protected city center, so you can easily plan a whole day or a few days of walking around and discovering everything Lviv has to offer.
