Venice is one of the most beautiful places in the world. The problem is that sometimes it gets crowded with tourists, and you just want a moment of peace and calm. So we’ve gathered some of the more hidden spots of the city, where you can take a break from the crowds.

Libreria Acqua Alta

This mostly second-hand bookshop is located just near the water. The books are just all over the place—stacked up in piles, on old wine barrels, inside bathtubs and basically everywhere. There is also a friendly shop cat who will love it if you can spare a moment to pet him.

Address: Calle Lunga Santa Maria Formosa, 5176b, 30122 Venezia
Opening hours: Every day from 9am to 7:30pm

Cantina Do Mori

Venice is full of different restaurants, and they too are usually full of tourists. If you want to get a more local experience, you should try out this place, which serves local dishes such as Cicchetti and some great Italian wine. Take a look at the different options on the bar and have yourself a great local snack and drink.

Address: Calle Do Mori, 429, 30125 Venezia
Opening hours: Monday to Saturday from 8am to 7:30pm

San Francesco della Vigna

On the far eastern part of the city stands this magnificent 16th century church. It is famous for its Renaissance style as well as for the calm interior garden. You can also enjoy some of the artwork of the Italian sculptor Sansovino who built the place, as well as incredible paintings by Antonio la Negroponte.

Address: Ramo Al Ponte S. Francesco, 30122 Venezia
Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 9am to 12:30pm and from 1:30pm to 5:30pm
