]]>There are 24 vessels within Carnival Cruise’s fleet, with three more ships scheduled to join over the next two years. Carnival Jubilee was due to be the first, with the maiden voyage from Galveston, Texas expected in October 2023.
The ship, which will be the sister to Carnival Celebration and Mardi Gras, will travel the Caribbean and is currently being built in Germany. It has now been announced that shipyard delays and supply chain logistics have delayed production, postponing the vessel’s debut by at least two months.
As a result, Carnival Cruise Line has been forced to cancel the first six of Jubilee’s trips.
“This is disappointing news, but with the notification from the shipyard, we are advising our guests as quickly as we can,” stated Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line. “We appreciate their understanding as we work to deliver another spectacular ship that will provide a vacation experience our guests deserve and will absolutely love.”
Amongst the canceled voyages was the ship’s transatlantic sail from Southampton in the United Kingdom to Galveston which will serve as its home base.
Guests who booked Carnival Jubilee’s now-canceled cruises will be notified, with its debut voyage now scheduled for December 23, 2023.

]]>Well, there is good news for the latter.
The European Union has announced that passengers will now be able to use their mobile devices onboard due to 5G technology. The wireless service will be provided on aircraft using special network equipment called “picocell,” which uses a satellite to connect the plane’s network to the mobile network on the ground.
“5G will enable innovative services for people and growth opportunities for European companies,” said Thierry Breton, EU Commissioner for the Internal Market. “The sky is no longer a limit when it comes to possibilities offered by super-fast, high-capacity connectivity.”
Passengers have always been told to turn their devices to airplane mode to avoid electromagnetic interference, however, a 2017 survey by Allianz Global Assistance found that about 40% don’t make the switch while on board.
The risk of navigation interference is extremely small with 5G, meaning that phone calls during flights could be a real thing come summer.

]]>As BBC reports, air pollution in cities like London and Glasgow has dropped by half, and it was even more dramatic in some other places. Other places in the world that were affected include Italy, China, and South Korea — the countries with strict lockdown policies.
Guardian also reports a decrease in pollution in numerous UK cities, including Bristol, Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester, York, and Belfast.
This is good news for more than one reason. It’s directly related to the number of COVID-19 fatalities, as the Harvard University researchers found the link between polluted air and containing the virus. Environmental activists are hoping that this will lead to permanent changes in the world. The whole world is currently understanding that many things can be done with less traveling and that there are numerous jobs that can be done from home. There’s no reason to rush back to make things the same once this is finally over.
