Positano is one of the most beautiful and unique cities in all of Italy. It’s essentially a dream vacation spot, equipped with stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea, colorful buildings built into the mountainside, and of course, cute cobblestone streets. If you’re planning a trip to Positano, here are some must-do activities!

Path of the Gods Hike

If you’re going to Positano, you absolutely have to see the most stunning view. The Path of the Gods is the most popular hike in Positano, for good reason! It’s quite a hike (about 4 miles), but so worth it.

Drink Limoncello

When you visit Positano, you will see lemons everywhere. It’s only natural that you’ll stop somewhere to try some Limoncello. Limoncello is a lemon-liqueur made along the Amalfi coast, perfect for sipping in the summertime.

Grotta dello Smeraldo

Grotta dello Smeraldo is a beautiful cave in the area that is super unique. The cave is mostly dark, but the way the light reflects in the water makes it look like it’s glowing from underneath!

Spiaggia Grande

You can’t go to Positano without chilling on the beach! Spiaggia Grande is the perfect place to do just that. It will even give you a great view of the colorful houses while you relax by the water.

Are you tired of hearing about Northern Italy and Tuscany’s scenic towns and are looking for something different? Why not check out the tip of the boot?

Southern Italy is one of the most scenic places in Europe and is full of pastel-colored towns that you’ll never forget. Here are three towns that you should try to visit on your next trip to the boot.

Atrani

This underrated gem on the Amalfi Coast is a place that has yet to be discovered, widely, but definitely deserves your attention. Don’t be looking for new buildings or resorts here. What you’ll find, instead, is a slice of the “real” southern Italy that you will be sure to love.

Positano

Just to the south of Naples sits this town, which is well-known as a charming vacation destination. The most recognizable town on the Amalfi Coast, you’ll find pastel-colored buildings on steep hills that convey a sense of beauty that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Maratea

This small town, known as the “Pearl of the Tyrrhenian,” is one of the most gorgeous coastal towns that you can visit in southern Italy. Here, you’ll find a charming and quaint old town as well as rocky and picturesque beaches.

Positano is a hillside village set on the Amalfi Coast, in the Province of Salerno, in Campania, Italy. It has been a holiday resort since the time of the Roman Empire, and nowadays it is one of the most popular destinations to visit, especially since its popularity skyrocketed thanks to Instagram. Many travelers come here in search of the perfect picture of this small Italian paradise.

The climate of Positano is a mild, Mediterranean climate, with warm winters and long sunny summers, cooled by the fresh sea breeze. The beautiful pebbled beaches are crowded with tourists, and sometimes you can even get lucky enough to see famous artists, actors, and celebrities sunbathing on the Spiaggia Grande, the largest beach in Positano.

However, if you’re not the biggest fan of crowds, there are plenty of other beaches to choose from, such as Fornillo, La Porta, Fiumicello, Arienzo, San Pietro, Laurito, and Remmese. There are many hidden beaches accessible only by boat, which you can easily rent at any beach and do your own exploring.

The best way to truly experience the town of Positano is by foot. The winding stone streets, narrow roads and steep flights of steps are sure to take you on an authentic adventure. At every corner, you will find small Italian coffee shops, restaurants, and local stores selling unique souvenirs and handmade items. You can spend hours walking and browsing, but make sure to visit Positano’s most famous sights: the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and the local Museo Archeologico Romano, where you can learn all about Positano’s Roman history and architecture.

The Amalfi coast offers many activities for fans of hiking as well. The “Path of the Gods” is a centuries-old trail with incredible panoramic views and breath-taking landscapes, the most popular being the stretch between Bomerano and Nocelle. From Positano, you can also take a ferry to the nearby villages of Praiano, Conca dei Marini, Castiglione, and Maiori lie, and you can even hop on the ferry from Naples that will take you straight to the island of Sardinia.
