The main event is at the Sambadrome, but you’ll find “blocos,” aka parties, all throughout the city during this festive time.
Venice Carnival is famous for its elaborate masks and masquerade balls. Every year, the historic city transforms into a living work of art. So if you plan a trip to Venice during Carnival, don’t forget to pack your most opulent mask.
Mardi Gras in New Orleans is a legendary event that brings the city to life with parades, music, and finger-licking good Creole and Cajun cuisine. The festivities begin at the beginning of Carnaval week and lead up to Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras in French). The floats are colorful and fun and the whole city seems to be in on the celebration.

]]>When you are taking photos with a smartphone, you can just keep on clicking, knowing that you can sort out between the good and bad later. But with a disposable camera, you will need to be more selective with the shots you take. It will encourage you to capture only the things that are important to you and spend the rest of the time enjoying your surroundings.
There is no editing option with a disposable camera. You are capturing a raw moment in time, as it is, and it will definitely make you appreciate photos more because of their imperfections.
Most of us just go through the photos we capture on our smartphones, pick the best one to post on social media, and then move on with our lives. With disposable camera photos, you are getting them in physical shape, making it more special to go through them. You will pay more attention to the details and frequently take them out to show them to your friends and family.
Sure, smartphone photos can be printed out and framed as well. But let’s face it, it’s not the same, and you’ll hardly get around to doing it. With a disposable camera, you already went through the process of developing photos, and you only need a frame.

]]>Airplanes can get very cold, and although flight attendants sometimes pass out blankets, we find they’re usually pretty thin. Warm clothing is key if you’re someone who likes to sleep on planes. Your body temperature drops slightly when you sleep, so bringing a thick jacket and scarf is a great way to keep yourself comfortable.
The absolute best way to help tune out your surroundings and not have to hear that one guy who always yells at the flight attendant is a good pair of noise-canceling headphones.
Most long flights will offer some kind of meal or snack, but there’s nothing worse on a flight than being hungry hours away from mealtime. Keep yourself satiated by packing your own favorite snacks.

]]>International travel usually requires taking days off, but that doesn’t have to be the case with staycations. You can use the free time that you have on your hands to embark on a short road trip in your local area with your friends or family members.
Taking a whole week off may not be an option in the first few months of 2022, but you can still use your weekends to hit the road. Getting away for two or three days can be enough to explore certain destinations, but it’s extremely important to make the right choice and have a clear plan in mind.
Not everyone has the opportunity to work remotely, but if your workplace offers this option, you shouldn’t waste it away. Why work at a busy office or struggle concentrating at home, when you can hit the road and find renewed energy at a brand-new place?

]]>Not having enough money to embark on a lavish international trip shouldn’t stop you from traveling. Put your weekends to some good use and join forces with your friends and family to go on fun road trips in your local area. Share the expenses and you will barely feel like you’ve spent any money at all.
One amazing trip is sometimes all it takes to turn your year around. Pick one destination that you really want to visit and save money throughout the year to make it happen. Figure out when exactly you could embark on this trip because you can save a lot of extra money by booking your flight and accommodation in advance.
Never tried hostels before because you’re not sure if they’re the right fit for you? Do it in 2022! Worst case scenario, you’ll know for sure they’re not your thing and you’ll have one more new experience. Best case scenario, you’ll make a bunch of new friends and you’ll save a lot of money along the way.

]]>The idea of a remote work vacation revolves around the possibility of not having to be at home while getting work done virtually. Instead of always staying at your house, you can travel around the world and see different places as long as you have a reliable internet connection.
Remote work vacations are an especially great idea if you want to visit a location that is more about the setting and surrounding than it is touring, visiting monuments, or exploring cities. Renting a house in a beautiful natural area with hikes close by and tranquility is one great idea, as is a beachfront apartment or hotel room with views of the water and access to the sea as soon as your mandated work hours have finished.
As virtual work looks to become more and more popular even when the pandemic ends, this new trend is set to stick around. Would you give it a try?

]]>However, finding places where the aurora borealis can be seen can be a difficult sell when you realize just how isolated and hard-to-reach they can be. There is an alternate way to see nature’s light show, however, and you might end up finding it on a regular commercial flight!
Many transcontinental flight paths around the world take you to or near the Arctic Circle while in the air, and this can provide a fascinating and unique perspective from which to see this “show”.
The so-called “Polar Route” is the most popular path that planes take when flying from North America to Asia. Normally, planes cross the North Pole region at night, which gives you a very possible shot of seeing this amazing light show.
Some flights from Europe to northern cities in North America also offer this possibility, although the chances are usually somewhat lower that you’ll see them.
Try to book a flight with a route near or in the Arctic that happens during night hours, and be sure to stay awake for what could be one of the most amazing things that you will ever see!
Have you ever seen the Northern Lights from a plane before? What did you think?

]]>Ever since the 1990s, Qantas has offered up mystery flights periodically as a fascinating trip option for travelers. With flights leaving from Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, travelers are packed into an airplane with no idea of where they are going for a national day trip.
Flown on B737 aircraft and featuring a ticket that includes transportation, activities upon arrival, and breakfast in a pre-flight lounge, this is a unique and interesting way to spend a day in Australia.
The destination is never known before you leave, but Qantas does provide you with a pre-flight email telling you what the weather will be like and what sort of clothes you need to pack for your activities.
Smaller towns and cities, both beachside, in the country’s interior, and near national landmarks have been some of the destinations which have been flown to. What’s clear, however, is that this adventure, with a starting price of around $550, is for those of us who are open to a little bit of uncertainty!

]]>The post Is Tech-Free Travel a Feasible Concept? appeared first on Traveler Dreams.
]]>This has, undoubtedly, changed the way we experience and view travel. Whether it is for better or for worse, there is no doubt that having unlimited information and tech tools at our fingertips has meant that we don’t travel like we used to.
There has been a recent trend of people who have looked to set technology aside and make vacation plans specifically with “tech-free travel” in mind. But is this a feasible thing to do in 2021?
The short answer is that it depends on how you define “tech-free.” Technology is unavoidable, but if you are aware of this and focus on reducing your exposure and use of it, you can certainly opt for travel in which you are able to “disconnect” and focus on living in the real world.
Tech-free travel shouldn’t mean leaving your cell phone at home, for example. It can, however, mean keeping it in airplane mode while you’re out of your hotel room and exploring. It doesn’t have to mean avoiding any sort of screen while out and about. It does, though, mean that you should keep your eyes peeled on what’s happening in front of you.
A complete avoidance of technology isn’t possible in the 21st century and this is something that we should all accept and deal with before attempting to eschew actively using it while traveling
Keep your goals realistic and do only what you can control while trying to avoid technology as you travel and you’ll end up having a successful and rewarding experience.
