Are you the owner of a smartwatch? This techie accessory has become more and more popular to see on people’s wrists over the past few years, and it’s not hard to see why. Bringing all kinds of information on a small screen on your wrist, this tool can make things a lot easier when you’re on the go.

This smartwatch revolution has begun to spread to the realm of travel as well, and it offers all kinds of benefits to those of us who are adept at combining our love for technology with our passion for travel.

One of the advantages that smartwatches offer to travelers is the ability to load tickets and boarding passes to museums, shows, flights, and trains, just to name a few examples. By using one, you won’t have to deal with paper or your smartphone!

Apps such as Weather can also come in handy while traveling with your smartwatch. Do you see imposing clouds in the distance? Simply raise your smartwatch and check the radar or forecast to see when you need to duck inside!

Finally, another interesting tool that smartwatches offer that can be great for travelers is the ability to measure physical activity and rest. You can see how many steps and miles you have walked every day in order to ensure that you are getting enough exercise, and you can also set your smartphone to track your sleep so that you know that you’re rested and ready to go!

Consider using one of these useful devices on your next trip!

Since the turn of the century, technology has begun to rear its head when it comes to travel more and more. Gone are the days of phone reservations and paper train tickets, as we have begun embracing other technologies to streamline these processes. Mobile wallets are at the forefront of this change, putting all of our travel documents and needs in the palm of our hands in our smartphones.

Easily Accessible

Mobile wallet apps are now commonplace on both Apple and Android devices, giving people a place to store the QR codes and reservation information that they will need for all kinds of travel experiences such as flights and hotel reservations.

Convenience

It was always such a pain to keep up with paper copies of tickets, as it used to burden travelers with yet another thing to keep track of and have with you at all times for fear of otherwise missing a flight or not having proof of your booking. Mobile wallets are a great tool that help both consumers and the travel industry, making everything so much easier for everyone.

If you haven’t given your mobile wallet a try yet on your smartphone, do so for your next trip! You’ll be shocked at just how helpful this tool is.

Technology has become an omnipresent and unavoidable part of our lives over the past few decades. We started with dial-up internet and massive home PCs and have transitioned to a life in which smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, and more devices seem to never leave our grasp.

This has, undoubtedly, changed the way we experience and view travel. Whether it is for better or for worse, there is no doubt that having unlimited information and tech tools at our fingertips has meant that we don’t travel like we used to.

There has been a recent trend of people who have looked to set technology aside and make vacation plans specifically with “tech-free travel” in mind. But is this a feasible thing to do in 2021?

The short answer is that it depends on how you define “tech-free.” Technology is unavoidable, but if you are aware of this and focus on reducing your exposure and use of it, you can certainly opt for travel in which you are able to “disconnect” and focus on living in the real world.

Tech-free travel shouldn’t mean leaving your cell phone at home, for example. It can, however, mean keeping it in airplane mode while you’re out of your hotel room and exploring. It doesn’t have to mean avoiding any sort of screen while out and about. It does, though, mean that you should keep your eyes peeled on what’s happening in front of you.

A complete avoidance of technology isn’t possible in the 21st century and this is something that we should all accept and deal with before attempting to eschew actively using it while traveling

Keep your goals realistic and do only what you can control while trying to avoid technology as you travel and you’ll end up having a successful and rewarding experience.

Technology is an undeniable part of our lives now, whether it’s at work or at home. This importance of technology also extends to travel, with many different technologies affecting how we participate in this leisure activity. Take a look at these three tech trends which are completely changing the travel game right now.

Virtual Reality

Over the past year or so, it has been more difficult to travel thanks to the ongoing pandemic. Virtual reality headsets have been used by people who want to experience a vacation without leaving their homes. However, this isn’t the only way that virtual reality will be implemented in the future, with exciting opportunities for museums and other attractions to use this technology.

Contactless Payment

Gone are the days of having to worry about exchanging money in order to get a different country’s currency or worrying about touching dirty credit card terminals. Now more than ever, contactless payment is being used by hotels and attractions all over the world in order to provide a more secure way for travelers to pay.

Apps for Reviews

Although you might not even realize it, apps and websites that provide reviews for accommodations, travel providers, and attractions inform and influence our decisions when we go on vacation. Without apps like Tripadvisor, many of us would be lost when it comes to making our plans.

Road trips have always been a popular vacation option. Considering the travel situation which we are all experiencing in 2020 in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, this classic trip format has begun to grow in popularity.

One of the beautiful things about road trips is the fact that, unlike when flying or taking trains, you can completely design your own itinerary and even decide to go on a road trip with little notice! If you do the latter, keep these things in mind to make the most of your trip.

Don’t Book Stays in Advance

While you might be used to booking hotels and accommodations in advance while traveling, don’t do this if you’re going to take a spontaneous road trip. This will allow you to travel freely and to not have to worry about being in a certain city on a certain night.

Be Flexible

Flexibility is always important while traveling, and this is even more true when taking a spontaneous road trip. Instead of worrying about visiting certain places or being in predetermined places, why not just go with the flow and travel towards what piques your interest?

Use Your Phone

One of the biggest advantages of the widespread character of mobile phones these days is their ability to provide us with all kinds of information. While stopped to get gas or eat lunch, why not use your phone to search for interesting places to see near your location? In addition, a phone’s GPS function always comes in handy while driving.

Have you been paying attention to the latest trends in travel? If so, you’ve probably heard about one of the most popular new ideas that has been gaining traction for intercontinental travelers all over the globe: layover city breaks.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9xO6SDhei7/

The idea of this new program, which is offered by a vast number of airlines in cities across the planet, allows for travelers who are making a layover in a hub city to take a few days to holiday there before moving on to their final destination.

By offering this program, airlines allow travelers to take advantage of what would normally only result as being a few hours in a city’s airport. Instead, they are given the opportunity to leave the airport and check out the city for a few days with no extra charge!

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9xM_mEpk0L/

The stopover city idea was pioneered in Reykjavik, Iceland. Many low-cost Icelandic carriers began operating flights to and from Europe with a stop in their country’s capital city, allowing travelers to get to know this extreme northern country.

Now, this program is offered all over the globe. Common cities for layover breaks include Lisbon, Portugal, Dubai, UAE, and Tokyo, Japan!

https://www.instagram.com/p/B9xPOAVpPJB/

So, what are you waiting for? Take advantage of this unique opportunity to see a city with no extra charge on your way to your next long-haul destination.
