Mont Saint Michel

Located to the north of Paris in the region of Normandy is Mont Saint Michel, a magical tidal island that features a small town and an abbey that must be seen to be believed. A bridge now connects the mainland to the island, which is otherwise cut off from mainland France depending on the tide.

Reims

Reims, a small city that is the unofficial region of Champagne production to Paris’s east, is only a short train ride away from the capital. Here, you can sample the famous sparkling wine in one of the city’s main wine bars, as well as make a visit to the historical Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Reims.
