The Carleton Hotel, where the couple stayed, is an absolute luxury destination. This is not the vacation for travelers on a budget or looking for “local charm” but is a drop dead gorgeous experience full of decadence and glamour.  

Additionally if you have the time and resources, the Cannes Film Festival is the cinematographic event of the year (occurring annually in mid May), with sneak peaks at each year’s most aesthetically appealing and stimulating films.

Either way, Cannes has plenty of beautiful views of the coast and the French mountains.
