]]>Seattle’s location on the Puget Sound is a short ferry ride away from several islands off the coast of Washington that are also worth a visit. Enjoy views of the city against the Olympic mountains on the way to islands like Vashon or Bainbridge without having to worry about being cold on the way.
While beautiful year round, most of the area’s beaches are too cold to enjoy outside the summer months. We definitely recommend taking advantage of the warm weather by heading to the beach when the air is warm and the sun is shining. Our favorite Seattle beaches are Alki Beach and Golden Gardens Park.
Washington is the largest berry producing state in the U.S. and there are plenty of places where tourists and locals can pick their own berries as well. One of our favorite places to pick fruit is Johnson Berry Farm.

]]>If you can’t resist exploring art museums in each new city you go to, this is the best one you’ll find in all of Seattle. In addition to the main museum in downtown Seattle featuring 25,000 pieces, there are several more cultural institutions under SAM’s jurisdiction including the Olympic Sculpture Park and the Seattle Asian Art Museum.
Seattle is home to the world’s largest private air and space museum, which welcomes half a million visitors every year. The Museum of Flight has many historic aircraft and space vehicles on display, but it also runs many educational programs.
The Museum of Pop Culture has only been around since 2020, but that didn’t stop it from growing into one of Seattle’s top attractions. It’s housed inside a modern building by the famed architect Frank Gehry, and its collection covers everything from science fiction, video games, and music, with a special focus on the iconic Seattle musician Jimi Hendrix.

In addition to hands-on and virtual science exhibits, it has an iMax theatre and a musical laser light show! This show is an experience for all five senses! It’s a virtual tour of the best and most interesting parts of Washington State, and will give your kids a chance to see natural and manmade local wonders that will keep them enraptured for the duration of the show.
If you’re not from the Pacific Northwest, then the Seattle Aquarium will be a unique educational experience for your kids. This aquarium focuses entirely on aquatic life from the Pacific Northwest, meaning it’s a must-see if your kids love animals or science.

]]>This lake’s 50.5-mile stretch is flanked by two towns on its north and south ends— Chelan, which is very tourist-friendly, in the south, and Stehekin in the north, which is only reachable by boat, seaplane, or ferry. In between the towns, the lake draws water adventurers every year and has lots of opportunities for different sports.
Pearrygin Lake in the Methow Valley is bordered by a state park named for the lake. From the state park, there is a large boat launch available throughout the boating season, and lots of campgrounds to boat to. There’s also swimming and fishing available to anyone who wants to take part.
The largest lake in Mount Rainier State Park, Mowich is fed mostly by snowmelt and is incredibly cold year-round. You can get there by driving all the way to the end of State Highway 165, and boating is only available to non-motorized boats but is a lovely experienced for canoers and kayakers among others.

]]>At the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival, you can enjoy 40 acres of beautiful tulips. This place is like Heaven on Earth, where you and your family — and even your pet — can spend a fun day jumping in muddy ponds exploring and enjoying the colorful fields.
At this Tulip Festival, you can take a sightseeing tour by train and by a cow train.
You can even enjoy the fields from the air by riding a hot air balloon. The festival is kids friendly, offering a variety of great and fun activities for the entire family. On the weekends, you can visit the Wooden Shoe Maker tent and watch how wooden clogs are made.
The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival celebrates the awakening of Mother Nature since 1984. These breathtaking tulip fields are located in Washington State, just about 60 miles from Seattle. You can relax and enjoy millions of colorful and remarkable tulips. Make beautiful memories by taking picturesque photographs.
Tulip Time Festival held in Holland, Michigan isn’t a drive-through-the-tulip-fields kind of festival. This festival best represents the Dutch tradition. Beside tulips — which are planted in city parks, at public attractions, and along city streets — there are events and programs for all ages: concerts, carnivals, tulip painting parties, Dutch dances, floral arranging class, Tulip City tours etc.
