Naples is a city to which you should dedicate at least 4 days of your vacation to immerse yourself fully in the experience. You can spend a day in Amalfi coast or even visit the neighboring cities.

Naples is famous for its culture and museums, but they also make amazing red wine. Here’s a list of a few places to check out with your best pals.

Cantina del Vesuvio Russo Family Winery

This place has one of the best wines in the world according to the rave reviews. Perfect location and the locals sell the wine for a great price. They even have gluten-free and vegetarian options for the drinks, so they’re quite inclusive to all diet restrictions.

Taurasi Wine

Even though Taurasi isn’t originally from Naples, this red wine deserves more credit. It’s located in the vineyards of the Apennine hills of Avellino and has a strong savoury taste. Perfectly paired with red meat.

Il Mantegno Vineria

This Vineria is perfect because it not only houses great wine, but they also have delectable treats. Pair your red or white wine with a chocolate cake or perhaps a ricotta cheese dessert. You’ll definitely ask for seconds.

Imagine a city nestled at the base of the Loire River in Western France. The booming city of Nantes is home to the Dukes of Brittany, who lived in Château des Ducs de Bretagne.

Its Gothic architecture, natural botanical parks, and museums are places to add to your list. Nantes is also home to the largest vineyard in France, which boasts that its white wine is rich and godly. Keep these tips in mind for the ultimate wine experience.

Wine Trucks: Keep an eye out

This guy’s wine truck blew our mind. Imagine going around a corner and seeing a wine truck appearing. Yes this is actually real, we had to have a double-take to make sure this was a thing.

Book a Tour with a Local

Usually, the most exciting trips are the ones where you venture out on your own. But in Nantes, one of the best things to do is to join a group or ask a local to take you around the vineyards. Besides learning about the rich history, you’ll find the places locals visit.

Drink a Glass of Muscadet

Muscadet is a white wine found in the Loire Valley in Nantes. Its flavor is light-bodied and bone dry. Try pairing it with Fondue or Gruyere cheese for an otherworldly experience. You’re welcome.

Believe it or not, I was recommended this winery by a college professor. He told me if there’s one place I need to visit in Italy, it’s Tenuta Torciano. I abided by his advice and now I get to pass on this special secret to you.

Tenuta Torciano is a familY-owned winery in San Gimignano, Tuscany, about an hour’s drive from Florence. I really didn’t know what I was getting myself into, after all it was only 30 euros per person, which is affordable for a tasting.

When we arrived, we were greeted by a kind woman who would be our guide for the afternoon. She took us into a vast wine cellar, where there was a table set for two, with eight glasses at each setting.

She talked about the history of the winery, and proceeded to teach us how to taste the wine. Yes, most wineries will teach you to swirl, sniff, and spit the wine, but our guide showed us a new way to taste new flavors that you’ll need to visit to understand.

She paired the first three wines with a plate of meats and cheeses, as well as with homemade cold pressed olive oil and balsamic.

Then, she poured another three glasses to try with her grandmother’s veal truffle oil lasagna dish, which was truly the best food I ate in all of Europe.

Once we devoured the heavenly appetizer, she brought out our entree of chicken, potatoes, and spiced vegetables to try with a seventh wine. We consumed the last sweet wine by dipping biscotti into the glass for seven seconds so it soaked up the fruity flavor from the wine.

This tasting was private, delicious, and extremely romantic. You definitely get your money’s worth for your wine, food, and experience. Make sure that you have a designated driver as the alcohol portions are large! Enjoy.
