]]>While we have yet to discover a long-term solution to the post-holiday blues caused by freezing temperatures, we do know that even a quick getaway to somewhere warm and sunny can be enough to carry us through until spring. Here are some of the places we’re dreaming of heading to this year.
Come January, Cancun’s rainy season is over for the year and the monthly average temperature is a sunny 75°F. The weather is perfect for lounging on one of the city’s brilliant turquoise beaches or, if you’re feeling more adventurous, taking a day trip to see the Mayan Ruins of Chichen Itza.
January also marks the start of the dry season on the north Pacific coast of Costa Rica, and daily temperatures tend to reach about 90°F. This part of the country is rather remote, but it is home to plenty of beautiful hotels and opportunities for excursions like snorkeling and hiking.
While technically the coldest month of the year, January in Key West usually means temperatures around the mid-70s during the day and mid-60s at night. The ocean water remains warm enough to swim in and the island holds an annual Food & Wine Festival at the end of January. If you’ve got plans to visit Key West, we definitely recommend checking it out.

Near Cairo are the Pyramids of Giza. This site, which is a must for any visitor to Egypt, also houses the famous Sphinx.
There are also spectacular archeological sites in Luxor, south of Cairo. Here it is worth visiting the Great Temple of Trust.
South of Luxor is the city of Aswan. Here you will find the huge dam built on the Nile.
For those looking for a quality beach holiday, it is recommended to visit the Sinai Peninsula, which offers a relaxed and peaceful beach experience. Important tourist sites include the monastery of Santa Catarina, Dhab, and Ras Muhammad beach—where the coral reefs are some of the most beautiful and rich in the world.
At the other end of Egypt, on the Mediterranean coast, is the city of Alexandria, which was founded in 332 BC by Alexander the Great, after whom it is named.

]]>The most visited area in Alaska is the inner passage in southeast Alaska. The most impressive natural site in the area is Glacier Bay, an area of glaciers, deep fjords, forests, and wildlife.
The Central South Alaska region is also relatively touristy. This area is home to Anchorage, the largest city in Alaska and the only one to offer urban landscapes and skyscrapers alongside rich cultural life.
In central Alaska is the Denali National Park, featuring Mount McKinley—the highest peak in North America. The park is huge, containing glaciers, green glacial valleys, forests, Arctic prairie landscapes, mountains, lakes, meandering rivers, and a massive supply of wildlife—such as bears, wolves, and deer.
Southwest Alaska is the least visited area in the country, and the tourists who come to it mostly focus on the island of Kodiak, whose main attraction is a population of about 3,000 brown bears living in its territory.
Adventure enthusiasts will be happy to know that Alaska offers plenty of activities for adrenaline enthusiasts—such as hiking and climbing, boating in kayaks, glacier walking, flying over glaciers, whiskey, hikes, rafting, and more.

]]>But there is no doubt that the winter season is a little more challenging for tourism, and the options are more limited than in other seasons.
When planning a winter trip, you should first think about the destination you are traveling to and try to understand what the weather will be like on the dates you have chosen.
If you like shopping, probably every big European city will suit you—but note that in some resort towns, the shops are closed at the height of winter, as well as some of the restaurants and cafes.
If you like hiking in nature, places where there is a chance of heavy snow or storms will not suit you—and may even ruin your vacation.
If you are looking for a getaway from the cold, try to think about planning a vacation on the other side of the globe—for example in Australia, New Zealand, or Brazil, when the peak of summer is in the months of December-January. The flights might be longer and more expensive, but you can enjoy the feeling of summer, for a few more weeks.

]]>The Cayman Islands are more than ready to celebrate the start of a new year with tourists.
This is a calm, exotic location, perfect for a group of friends, families, and couples. They recently added a luxurious resort that can be your hotel of choice during the stay. It is not as popular as the other Caribbean Islands, which makes it much better for a peaceful relaxing vacation.
Another lesser-known location that comes straight out of paradise. St. Croix wasn’t affected by the hurricanes as much as the other Virgin Islands, so you’ll have several resorts to choose from.
You can start 2019 in your bathing suit right by the pool, or chill on the beach. Martinique is a popular destination for this winter.
You’ll completely forget about winter in one of the most beautiful Caribbean Islands. All of the resorts will be ready to welcome guests right in time for the holidays. If you are up for a short vacay away from the snow and cold, we highly recommend Antigua.
