If you’re planning a trip to India, Agra is probably one of the must-see cities on your bucket list. It’s best known for being home to the Taj Mahal, which happens to be one of those magical places everyone wants to see at least once in a lifetime, but this monument of love isn’t the only breathtaking historical site in this Indian city.

Agra Fort

Originally built in the 16th century, Agra’s second most significant building is best known for its imposing red sandstone walls. After stepping through Amar Singh Gate, you’ll get to discover many magnificent monuments that hide inside, including Jahangir Palace

Tomb of Akbar the Great

Built in honor of the Mughal emperor Akbar the Great, this tomb is a must-see spot for all architecture lovers visiting Agra. If its marble and red sandstone walls aren’t enough to impress you, the landscaped gardens that surround this structure certainly will.

Itmad-ud-Daula

Another breathtaking tomb in Agra is commonly known by the nickname “Baby Taj”, and it’s not difficult to see why. Just like the original structure, it’s made from white marble and decorated with semi-precious stone, but it was actually built before the Taj Mahal and went on to inspire its design.
