Take a Break From Your Vacation? 3 Day Trips Out of Madrid

Madrid is a city full of culture, sites, and tourist attractions; many people travel to Spain simply to visit Madrid’s many wonders. But sometimes, even the finest city vacations require a little breather and a visit somewhere else. Here are a few ideas for day trip destinations you can get to from Madrid.

Toledo

A UNESCO World Heritage Site with the historical status of a cultural hub. It’s a great place to fully explore the work of El Greco, a famous past resident of Toledo, and of course don’t miss seeing Alcázar, built by Franco and offering a view of the city and the Tajo river.

Aranjuez

One of the best-kept palaces in Spain is The Royal Palace of Aranjuez, with its glorious colorful buildings and lush gardens. Tour the throne room and look at the royal artifacts shown in the palace, walk the boulevards surrounding the palace, made to fit a royal, and taste some local game in one of the town’s many restaurants.
