Paella is a Spanish dish consisting of rice, veggies, chicken, and seafood seasoned with saffron and served in a large pan. Its origins are in Valencia, though nowadays it’s commonly served throughout the entire country, including the city of Barcelona. Different variations are available for whatever you may prefer—without seafood, without chicken, even vegetarian. We especially love to have paella when visiting Spain’s port cities. The seafood is fresh and local and it makes the dish all the more delicious.

Arrosseria Xátiva

This restaurant has a few locations around the city. They specialize in Spanish rice dishes including Paella but have plenty of other shareable options available if you’d like to venture out. They even have a noodle-based paella!

Can Solé

Can Solé is over 100 years old and takes special pride in the seafood used in their paellas. Anchovies, lobster, and more make for fresh additions to a variety of rice and pasta dishes.

Barraca

You can’t go wrong with Paella from this restaurant right by the ocean. Soak in the view as you dig into paellas made with local ingredients like fish and squid ink, or if you prefer, try their vegan take on this classic dish.
