India’s “Pink City” of Jaipur is best known for its beautifully colored palaces, but the forts you can find here are equally picture-perfect. They’re the best place to explore the rich history and architectural diversity of Jaipur, and these three deserve a spot on your bucket list.

Amber Fort

Also known as Amer Fort, this 16th-century hilltop palace is one of Jaipur’s main tourist attractions. The red sandstone and marble structure are separated into several different sections, filled with beautiful courtyards, gates, and cobbled paths, built in the Mughal architectural style.

Jaigarh Fort

Located on a hill overlooking the Amber Fort, this fortress was built to protect it from attacks. They’re connected by subterranean passages and are very similar in design. Jaigarh Fort is three kilometers long and it offers some of the most beautiful views in all of Jaipur.

Nahargarh Fort

Speaking of sweeping views, this fortress on the edge of the Aravalli hills is a photographer’s dream. It was built in the 18th century and its main purpose was to form a strong defense ring with the previous two forts. It’s now home to several tourist attractions, including a wax museum.
