We have all seen the magnificent photos of the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) that travelers have taken in Iceland, making the place really famous for them. But Iceland has a lot more to offer to the traveler, and we will explore those lesser known sides of this magnificent country in this article.

Nature

The country is overflowing with magnificent nature that can only be seen in this part of the world. Rich with breathtaking mountains, volcanoes, waterfalls, mountain trails and glaciers, Iceland is like no other – a true Disneyland for the nature lover.

The Midnight Sun

You’ve all heard of the Northern Lights, but have you heard about the midnight sun? During the days of late June, the sun sets past midnight and rises just before 3 am. This unique experience gives the landscapes and natural sights a really interesting look.

The Food

Finally, one of the best traits of Iceland is its unique cuisine. While having strong Scandinavian influence, the cuisine was modified to the harsh Icelandic conditions, and because of this it abounds with seafood, lamb and dairy. Visit some of the local restaurants and have a glance at the mouthwatering specialties that this great region offers.
