This Unusual House Was Made of Newspaper

People have been building many unusual houses around the world for centuries, but the house we present to you today is extra unique. This nearly 100 years old building in Massachusetts was build using only newspaper and you can actually see it in person. Where can you find it? The newspaper house is located along Pigeon Hill Street in Rockport and it’s been there since 1922.

It’s owner, Elis F. Stenman, is an engineer who has built other things using newspaper, but this house is his biggest project ever. He even lived in it for two years before his death in 1942. After he died, the house has been transformed into a museum. It’s open to the public and we recommend you visit it if you’re in the area.

Nobody can tell what motivated Stenman to built this unusual house. One theory was that he was trying out cheap building materials. Another guess is that he simply enjoyed making things out of paper. Even the glue used to hold the layers together is homemade—Stenman made it from flour, water, and apple rind. It’s really impressive that it still stands today since many houses built of sturdier materials couldn’t last a whole century.
