There’s nothing better than stepping off the plane in a foreign destination, especially when you’ve spent months organizing and planning for a trip. The journey itself, though, can be less than pleasant, especially if your travels include a particularly long flight. While we can’t upgrade your ticket or give you extra legroom, we do have a couple of tips and tricks that we’ve found make flying more comfortable whether you’re flying within the country or even across the world.

Book Your Trip Early

Whether you prefer the window or the aisle (we’re partial to the aisle), the best way to make sure you end up in your preferred seat is to book your tickets as far in advance as possible. Most airlines will let you choose your seat within your class.

Bring Noise-Canceling Headphones

If you’re a frequent flyer, noise-canceling headphones are worth the investment. Save yourself from the frustration of trying to fall asleep surrounded by crying babies and other people’s conversations so you can get some rest before you land.

Pack Snacks

Most airlines will provide several meals and snacks on longer flights, but you’ll thank yourself and make your flight more enjoyable if you bring a few of your own favorite treats. We suggest avoiding anything too messy and sticky, however.
