For most tourists, Istanbul is the destination that first comes to mind when they think of Turkey. This magical city offers a one-of-a-kind experience and everyone should visit it at least once in their lifetime. With that being said, Istanbul isn’t the only Turkish city worth your time. Antalya

If you crossed Istanbul off your list, then Antalya should be your next destination. This coastal city is Turkey’s most prominent resort and sees more than 13 million tourists each year. If you are not all about sunbathing and swimming, Antalya has numerous historic sites, green areas, and other tourist attractions thanks to its rich history that dates back to 200 BC. 

Bursa

In recent times,  Bursa has become known as an industrial town. However, the area was settled as far as 5200 BC, being ruled by Greeks and Romans, among other civilizations throughout history. It also served as the capital of the Ottoman Empire at one point, resulting in an impressive heritage that includes archeological sites, monuments, landmarks, and a large number of museums displaying important archeological findings. History buffs will feel right at home here.

Izmir

It is estimated that the area of Izmir was populated continuously for 8,500 years, while the city’s urban history dates back as far as 1,000 BC. The city is known for its festivals and fairs that take place throughout the year while offering some of the best food you’ll find outside Istanbul. The city’s cuisine has seen many influences through the centuries due to different rulers, evolving into a one-of-a-kind gastronomic experience.
