Visit the Snow Monkeys Chilling (Literally!) in Japan

The snow monkeys, also called the Japanese macaque, are a monkey species endemic to Japan. The name “snow monkey” is appropriate to them, since they live in places where snow falls for a few months every year. This unique primate is the only kind of its species that can survive in extremely cold temperatures. These pictures will steal your heart and also make you wish you could trade places with them.

Snow Monkey Park

The Snow Monkey Park is located near the base of Joshinestu Kogen National Park. It spawned in 1964, when the conservation was created to protect a special group of monkeys. Now they seek refuge in natural hot springs to keep warm during the cold seasons. Aren’t they the most chill animals you’ve ever seen? Besides sloths of course.
