Peru is a fascinating country to visit. Full of Native American history, beautiful natural parks, and cosmopolitan, global cities such as Lima, everyone can find something they’ll love in this South American country.

One of my favorite spots to visit Peru is Cuzco, a city that is strongly tied to the history of the Incan Empire, serving as the empire’s capital from the 13th to 16th century. This city is located at over 11,000 feet above sea level in the foothills of the Andes Mountains.

Here, you can discover all kinds of things about Incan history. For example, one of the best things to do in Cuzco is to take a trip to Saqsaywaman, the ruins of a former Inca complex.

Another great way to get in touch with Incan history in Cuzco is to visit Qorikancha, located in the center of the city. This was the most important temple in the Incan Empire and is a must-visit for anyone interested in the area’s history.

Cuzco, on top of all of the things we’ve already mentioned, is also a great place to use as a base for a trip to Machu Picchu.
