Washington DC: The Coolest Events To Celebrate The 50th Anniversary of The Moon Landing

This weekend, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the moon landing. Here are the coolest ways to celebrate the historical event in Washington DC.

Visit Neil Armstrong’s Spacesuit

For the first time since 2006, visitors of DC’s Air and Space Museum will be able to take a look at the spacesuit that Neil Armstrong wore when mankind took its first step on the moon.

Learn About Apollo 11 at a Ball Park Near You

A series of life-size replicas of Armstrong’s spacesuit will be put on display in MLB ballparks across the country over the summer. One is already on display at Nationals Park in DC. The exhibit is interactive and when scanned with a smartphone, users will receive videos about Apollo 11.

Go to the Apollo 11 Film Festival

The National Archives is celebrating the moon landing with a series of documentaries and discussions. The display in the East Rotunda section features official government records and plans for the Apollo 11 mission.

Watch a Life-size Rocket Projection

The Washington Monument is being transformed into a giant projection screen this week. A 363-foot image of a Saturn V rocket is being projected onto the monument between 9:30 and 11:30 and this weekend, the countdown will begin.
