Chocolate is much more than just a popular treat loved by millions around the world. All of the different processes and traditions that go into making chocolate have led some places to become ideal destinations for chocolate-loving travelers. If you’re a chocolate lover in search of a sweet adventure, there’s certainly something out there to satisfy your cravings. Here are three destinations we love.

Brussels, Belgium

Brussels is home to many chocolatiers that create chocolates renowned for their high quality and rich taste. Many chocolate factories offer tours and tastings, where you can indulge in classic Belgian chocolates such as pralines, truffles, and ganaches. Two of our favorite Belgian brands are Leonidas and Godiva.

Oaxaca, Mexico

Oaxacan chocolate is made with local cocoa beans, which have a unique and slightly bitter flavor profile. Chocolate is typically prepared with sugar, and cinnamon almonds, though is also often used in savory drinks and dishes such as mole. Check out local specialty shops such as La Soledad to sample different varieties.

Switzerland

Would any list of chocolate destinations be complete without Switzerland? Swiss chocolate is made with high-quality cocoa and contains more milk than most other chocolate, which gives it a creamy, smooth texture. The country is home to several famous chocolate factories such as Lindt and Nestle, though there are plenty of smaller chocolatiers that are definitely worth trying. We love Cailler and Läderach.
